Mirabai
Mirabai (1498–1547) was a poet-saint of Rajasthan and Vrindavan, India. One of the most quoted women in India’s history, Mirabai composed bhajans that express deep love for Lord Krishna and are sung throughout India today.
At the heart of Mirabai’s life was her devotion to the Lord. Her faith in and love of Lord Krishna was so great that she was willing to give up her royal status as a princess to pursue it. Mirabai is often seen as a symbol of remaining steadfast in devotion and choosing one’s own path in the pursuit of liberation.
