As I have been singing this chant each evening during Navaratri, I have been experiencing waves of happiness spreading throughout my home. They seem exactly like the sweet waves of blessings and joy that I felt at Gurudev Siddha Peeth while chanting in Guru Chowk.

It has been so powerful to sing along with this recording. I believe that it has enabled me to worship the Devi within myself in a most beautiful way. I am so thankful for this recording, which is such a good tool for my sadhana, and which bestows upon me the blessings of Guru Chowk.

When I sing this beautiful hymn, I feel that I am truly honoring my own Self. I feel so happy and nourished by love that I don’t want to stop singing.

How wonderful to worship the goddess of nourishment and abundance with these words! I love to give thanks for nourishment—our most basic need—physical and spiritual. When I chant Niranjani Annapurneshvari, I feel I am being lullabied while lying in an imaginary hammock swaying gently between palm trees on a peaceful beach—nourishment in the form of rest and relaxation.

As I read this, I realize that Katyayani is present in my life in the form of my Guru, Gurumayi. I experience the goddess’s nourishment in Gurumayi’s abundant teachings. This prayer is a beautiful reminder of all that I continue to receive.

I really love this chant. Each time I have the opportunity to chant these verses, I feel embraced by the power of the goddess and become aware of her omnipresence. When I close my eyes, I realize her existence in the ocean, the sky, the mountains, in the day and the night, in the entire universe, and in my Self.

I was blessed by friends from India last month with a gift of a brass statue of Annapurna. I am thrilled to know that today is her day of celebration.

This posting on the Siddha Yoga path website is a reminder to me that every day is the goddess’s day of celebration. It is also a great reminder to clean the puja in my kitchen in her honor and to remember to say prayers for the food being offered and eaten.
